Yay!! It's finally done. I've had the stuff I needed to get it together for a few days, but with the stomach flu making it's way through our house, I didn't have the motivation or time to get it done until Sunday afternoon. It took a lot of tweaking but I like the way it all worked out. It wasn't exactly how I envisioned it, but it's definitely grown on me! I found this old print of The Old Rugged Cross at Goodwill a few months ago. I knew my Easter Mantle would have a Christian theme and even with the cheesy 70ish look of this, I loved it! This is my favorite part. I was able to make this cross so it was the exact size I wanted it to be. I used 2 small pieces of bass wood from Joann's. I cut them down, hot glued them together into a cross shape, then hot glued the moss on it. After I had the moss glued down, I gave it a good coating of some firm hold aerosol hair spray to keep it in place. Then I laid a few silk lilies at the foot of it. I happened to glance in the direction of this little rabbit at Joann's when I was there getting the wood and moss for the cross. I thought he was really cute, so I snatched him up. On sale too! I used the same candy jar from the Valentine's Day mantle and just replaced the red hots with jelly beans. Keeping my husband and kids out of them will be the trick now. The Easter Eggs are mine from many seasons past, as well as the vase and candle stick. The subway art is from here. Well, there ya have it- my Easter Mantle! I meant to get it up sooner, but time got away from me. Before I know it, it'll be time to put my spring mantle up. I'm ok with that though! I'm ready for Spring! I hope my mantle can inspire you to celebrate Easter in a special way at your home!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We used it to rest and recoup from our long week of sickness. But, I'm glad to say we've all recovered and we're all feeling alive again! I thought I'd switch it up a bit this week and start with the verse of the week. I figured this would be a good verse to memorize this week as we're in the midst of the Lenten season and approaching Easter. I've heard this verse many times, but it's not one I've got memorized so I'll be challenging myself with this one! 2 Peter 3:9- The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Ok, onto this weeks menu. So, since we were all sick last week, most of this week's menu is everything from last week. We're supposed to get a big winter storm over the next few days, so I planned some warm hearty stuff to warm Aaron up when he gets home from delivering the mail.
Monday- BLT's Tuesday- Chili Wednesday- Spaghetti Thursday- Chicken N Noodles Friday- Homemade Pizza Saturday- Out So, as you can see, we're keeping it pretty simple this week. I hope that you guys have a great Monday and a great start to your week! |
